Privacy policy
YAFG is a game. Your game lives on your phone. We collect as little as we can, we never sell anything, and we never ask about your real finances.
What stays on your phone
Your saves, settings and in-game history are stored on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes them. You can also delete everything from Settings → Delete all my data.

A crash report contains
The error and where in the code it happened; your device model, Android version and app version; a few game facts: the in-game week, the scenario, the theme and the screen layout; and a random installation ID that isn't linked to you. No name, no email, no save contents.
Anonymous usage data contains
Which screens you open, how far you get, which features you try for the first time, how a game ended and, every few in-game months, your in-game wealth and monthly cash flow and your character's happiness, knowledge and karma, all in broad ranges (for example "100k–250k"); the scenario and goal you picked, whether tips are on, and whether you play on a phone or a tablet. Plus what Google Analytics records automatically: a random app-instance ID that isn't linked to you, device model, operating system, app version, country and session times. No name, no email, no exact in-game money, nothing you type. We may collect it from only a sample of players. While usage data is on, the app also downloads its settings from Firebase Remote Config (for example which share of players sends usage data), which gives Google a random Firebase installation ID. With usage data off, it downloads nothing and uses the settings built into the app.
A bug report contains
Your description and any screenshots or images you attach (re-encoded on your phone first, so they carry no location or camera details), an automatic screenshot of the current screen, a copy of your game data (saves, settings and in-game history, including your in-game character name), your device details (maker and model, Android version, language, screen size, text size and accessibility display settings, theme), the app version and the app's recent activity log. It is sent only when you tap Send, to our own server, and is used only to fix the problem. Our server sees your IP address while a report uploads, only to limit abuse.
Time check
To keep game time honest, the app checks the time with public time servers (Google, Cloudflare and pool.ntp.org). They see your IP address, nothing else.
Cloud save contains (only if you sign in)
Your Google account's email address and ID, so we know whose saves they are, and your game saves, stored in Firebase Firestore.
Who processes it
Google (Firebase Crashlytics, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Remote Config, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Google Play and AdMob), under Google's own terms and privacy policy, and our own server for bug reports. Data may be processed outside New Zealand, in Google's data centres.
How long we keep it
Crash reports: 90 days. Usage data: 14 months, our own analysis copies included. Bug reports: until the bug is fixed, and at most 12 months. Cloud saves: until you delete them or your account.
Your choices and rights
- Crash reports and usage data are on until you turn them off. The first time you open the game, a notice says so, with links to Settings → Privacy and to this policy.
- Turn crash reports and usage data off at any time in Settings → Privacy.
- Delete your local data in Settings. Delete your cloud saves by deleting your cloud account in Settings.
- Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it: [email protected]. Usage data is anonymous, so we may not be able to find yours.
Children
YAFG is meant for players aged 13 and over and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for anything significant, tell you in the app.
